1. Differences & Similarities between the 13 states :

-Differences - some states want to dissolve space between state and some want to withdraw from the U.S.A, some states had a vote to see how many were for and against the ordinance
-Similarities - all states are ordaining/declaring something and either dissolving a space between two states or withdrawing from the U.S.A, some were done at Montgomery, all were done by the people of the state, some were done in the same year (1861)

APPARTS - author, place/time, prior knowledge, audience, reason, the main idea, significance.

Texas - done by the people of the State of Texas,
February 1st 1861 / in Austin,
the federal government/people in office,
they believe that the federal gov. has failed to accomplish the purposes of the compact of union between Texas and the other states and the Northern States were violative towards the compact,
Texas wants to seceed because of the violations of the compact of union between all the states,
it is significant because it tells us the people of Texas' thoughts on Northern States and gives us reasons why they wanted to seceed.

Alabama - A - done by the people of the State of Alabama,
P - January 11th 1861 / at Montgomery
P - Alabama was admitted to the union as a slave state
A - president, vice president, etc. / the government
R - election of Abe and Hannibal disrupted the peace and security of the people of Alabama so they are withdrawing from the U.S. to become an independant state, T - Alabama wanted to become an independant state - not part of the U.S.,
S - Alabama seceeding is an important part of history and it tells us what the people of Alabama thought of the U.S

Reflection - Yes, the reasonings behind each of these acts make sense, because all of the people are titled to their opinions on the government and could have thoughts on how people in other states were acting towards something (like in Texas, they believed that Northern States were violative towards a compact of union between all the states). But no, I would not sign on these Acts if I lived in the state that it represents because having all the States want to seceed means that there would be no United States and the government would be useless. Plus it would be harder to be an indepedant state than to be part of the United States.

I See / It Means
two men are swapping cigars/whatever they are smoking
"smoking buddies"
look like they were from the union because they have nice jackets
one has a small cigarette like thing and the other is smoking a cigar
left - from union, right - from confederate

Pictures -
the ages must be from about 8-15
4, 10, 12, 15
union (powder monkey), confederate, union, confederacy
they all have different hats on
similarities : they all have similar uniforms on, 2 boys have similar hats and the other 2 boys have similar hats,

Robert E. Lee task
i would want to stick with my family and friends so that i wouldn't have to fight against them/possibly be the cause of their death. i would rather fight and be united with my peers so i wouldn't let them down.

Do Now 5|7 - The Union - offense, block the ports - blockade - anaconda plan
Confederacy - Defense,
union was more effective
2. new technolgy : gatling gun - the importance is it helped to kill off more of the other side because the noobies didn't know what else to do other than duck and hide because they were afraid of the gun. it got rid of the noobs so that way they could fight the experienced people to be victorious
RIFLES - NOT NEW! but useful
cannon balls - not new
telegraph
shrapnel
trains
ironclad
bullet

3. thought the confederacy was winning because they had better leaders and won more battles - kicking the S#&* out of the union
1863 - confeds winning
1. experience
2. better strategies
3. lack of trained enemy
4. on their home turf
5. defensive war
union has to force confeds to rejoin
confeds don't have to force union
like how the British had to force americans to become british again but the americans just had to protect themselves and not surrender

confeds needed shoes so they invaded the north, shoes located in Gettysburg, PA - turning point
1863 - union was losing so Abe lincoln had to come up with a way to win the war. he needs to make them surrender by getting more soldiers.
anaconda plan takes for evah

Lee - general for confed. - 2nd @ west point
Jackson - 1st
